A New Year – Just about here.

Here in Denmark we are experiencing our first real winter and snow storm – the 29’Th of December we did awake to a “winter wonder-land”.

Winter Wonder-land

2005 has gone by and we are now ready to crack open on 2006 – hopefully a new and interesting year for all. But according to normal tradition – I will shortly reflect on the year gone by.

This year fur us been a year of adapting to our new environment and climate. Singapore was a done deal and we started the year out with settling and unpack our goods from Singapore – more than 150 moving boxes has been unwrapped and packed out to our apartment here in Odense.

Nikita started in “Albaniagade Kindergarten” – as a non-speaking Danish child, but things went surprisingly well, now one year later, you can only recognize a little accent here and there – besides the fact that still he drop out a word or two in English, when his Danish vocabulary doesn’t mach his English skills.

Spring, April – brought to us the celebration of Hans Christian Andersen, who is born in the city we live in. We actually live less than 5 minutes away from his birthplace and the celebrations has made an impact on the City and Denmark in all fairness – as well as the rest of the world. Quite an achievement of a poor soon of Odense.

Living in Denmark – we also took the first crack at Legoland – I took Nikita there mid April – to experience the amazing things there – it was a big surprise (he had seen the advertisements on TV, but didn’t know that I took him there, before he was standing in front of the entrance).

May and June was a nice time in Odense and Copenhagen – we had the opportunity to see the local agriculture event in Odense (Very big horses and cattle as Nikita said) – as well as getting a chance to Visit the famous Tivoli in Copenhagen.

July and August was in the sign of friends and family. Elena’s mother was on visit from Russia, and just upon her departure – we had the pleasure to welcome Angie and Gerd from Singapore (with their kids) – we had the chance to do some sightseeing in Odense (You need to take a walk in the city to experience the ambiance of it) – as well as a trip to Legoland (sad, sad weather gave us a big welcome on arrival, rain showers like forever), so we did not get the best out of it.
But really a nice time together – and we really hope that they enjoyed their trip here.

In August – we finally had the “pleasure to receive the approval” of Elena’s visa to Denmark, but the Immigration Services could not approve on Elena’s passport, so we had to exchange it at the Russian embassy. Still here end of December – it has not been settled and we are still waiting for things to get resolved. 

Autumn was a time of family sessions, visits here and there and an introduction of a new family member, my brother and his family had a chance to introduce the latest addition to the Jensen Clan as well as we had an opportunity to celebrate birthdays and events with my family in Copenhagen.

December came to fast, we have now (well it took a year) finally settled down in Odense, and looking forward to the New Year and the experiences to come.
We took an opportunity in taking the boys at a Chinese Restaurant (What else could we choose) in Early December – It was a pleasure to see our two small wonders (well, not that small anymore), munching through the food and buffet, and ending up with a surprise Ice buffet (Eat all you can) – which they really made a good effort at.

Nikita is celebrating Xmas and New Year with his Grandmother in Russia (Sent him off on his first flight alone) and we will see him back the 8’th of January – this will among other things make a good improvement of his Russian Skills.

We did celebrate a peaceful Christmas with my parents who came to Odense; Max was in centre of attention and really did enjoy the time with my parents. They had a good chance to see the Angel and Devil in the same child, but basically he is also putting his footprints on our small family.

New Year we celebrate with a couple of friends and their child – good food (we hope) and a good start of the New Year.

We wish you all a Happy New Year, do send us your greetings and messages – we love to hear more about what is going on out there.
